Improves the way USB flash drives are handled, to eliminate a potential situation where certain drives would cause the workstation to boot extremely slowly. Adds BIOS workarounds for certain malfunctioning PCIe cards, to prevent them from affecting proper workstation operation during shutdown and power up. Improves fan control when five or more serial ATA (SATA) disks are installed in the workstation. These error messages are no longer displayed as they are benign, and are expected during normal system operation. Eliminates the error message that was sometimes displayed by previous BIOS versions following a reboot when certain correctable errors had been detected by the hardware.
Updates the Computer Setup Utility (F10) so it no longer displays the Intel Hyper-Threading Technology (HT) option if the CPU installed in the workstation does not support HT. The following enhancements have been added to BIOS version 01.17 since version 01.14 (SP43956) was released: In order for a USB flash media device to be recognized by the workstation, the device must be attached before the workstation is Powered On. This information can be saved into a text file on a diskette or on a USB flash media device by selecting File/Save to Diskette. NOTE: To determine the BIOS family and BIOS date, press F10 on the target workstation during Power On to run the Computer Setup Utility, and then select File/System Information. System BIOS is operating system independent. These utilities can be used to restore or update the System BIOS. This package contains the System BIOS image (BIOS Family 786G3) and local and remote BIOS flash utilities for the HP Z400 Workstation.
